Steve Culpepper brings over 40 years of experience in the music industry, beginning his journey as a drummer at just ten years old. His early passion for rhythm and composition led him to study music theory at New Jersey City University after graduating high school, laying the foundation for a lifelong career in music.
Throughout the years, Steve performed as a drummer in multiple bands while expanding his expertise behind the scenes. He worked extensively as both a sound and lighting technician for live shows and as a recording and mixing engineer for numerous original albums. His hands-on experience across performance, production, and technical engineering gives him a rare, well-rounded perspective on what makes music truly shine.
Committed to refining his craft, Steve later attended Berklee College of Music, earning a certification as a Mixing Engineer. He continued advancing his skills with a Mastering certification through Mastering.com, solidifying his place as a highly trained and artist-focused mastering engineer.
Today, as the owner of Mountain Mastering, Steve combines decades of real-world experience with modern training to deliver polished, emotionally rich, professional masters for artists of all genres. His mission is simple: to honor every project with the care, clarity, and musicality it deserves.
